Under our direction an interdisciplinary team of experts, architects, archaeologists, conservationists, restorers, engineers, landscape planners and other specialist was put together and, after an in-depth analysis, a proposal for a Site Management Plan was developed with the aim of an optimal, holistic and future-oriented reorganization and restoration of the Archaeological Site of Kerameikos.

In close coordination with the Kerameikos Task Force consisting of an expert group from the Greek Ministry of Culture and Sports and the German Archaeological Institute (DAI), the various focal points were analyzed in regular meetings and combined to form a master plan.

In addition to existing measures and the creation of guidelines for monuments, materials and protective structures, the planning suggests also the reorganization and strengthening of the experience for the site with its ancient routing, individual, important monuments of certain epochs, as well as functional, structural and green planning aspects. In doing so, it places the ancient site in harmony with its present location and its necessary uses and functions and corresponds best also with its urban environment outside.

The synergetic, planning approach of our experts planning team and the KTF with the diverse specialist fields enabled the development of a holistic site management plan and gives the impetus and the optimal overview for the implementation of future, necessary measures and in-depth studies.
The archaeological site of Kerameikos thus becomes a more accessible, attractive and functional archaeological site for all future users, visitors, researchers, Athenians and guests from everywhere.
