Bioclimatic Modular Offices for ALSTOM

After an internal process, our office was selected to design prototype bioclimatic modular construction site offices for ALSTOM company, which will replace the existing conventional ones on their future construction sites.

There was a basic requirement for a temporary and ephemeral building with office space for services, for a capacity of 150 or more people, of different groups and bundles. Moreover, it should be flexible, extensible and modular, reusable and customizable. A building, functional, smart, eco-friendly and energy efficient, but above all economical and reversible.

Essentially, the use of classic prefabricated 6.00×2.50 metal containers is propposed, which are adapted and placed appropriately to create small office spaces, large office spaces, open plan offices, auxiliary spaces (kitchen, WC) as well as atrium common areas, with single or double height, but also semi-outdoor recreation areas.

The bioclimatic character is achieved by an external frame, which surrounds this prefabricated containers set-up, on all five sides (four elevations and roof). This frame is suitably configured to receive vertical plantings that create green facades, on the west-north-east axis, and special flexbrick solar protection elements, on the south. Finally, the roof is equipped with photovoltaic panels on its majority, and a smaller planted area.
