The new Social Housing Compound in Pano Polemidia, Limassol, aspires to create new contemporary living spaces and environment for the future residents and to act unifyingly for the entire developing area.

The central idea of the proposal is about the creation of step-liked two-storey green residences, forming a sustainable Cascade Housing. A residential complex strong in form and meaning, which will promote social living and sharing of the surrounding area, both with its existence and with the sustainability of its spaces. The overall shape is derived from the existing topography, as well as the location and orientation of the plot, and places the houses in steps around a single outdoor area, which is bordered by the buildings and connected with different accesses to the neighborhood. Thus, the complex has rhythm and intensity, while at the same time it gives a calmness through the balance of its shapes. It combines the fixed oncoplastic elements with the dynamic movement of the sloped landscape, which has been created over time, symbolizing its timelessness, durability and sustainability.

In the center of the plot the green park functions as a common outdoor area with large, planted, bright areas for walking, gathering and recreation. Inside the park there are several meeting points such as an open amphitheater, a central meeting-gathering area as well as a playground, resulting in outdoor use for recreation and relaxation, and bringing in a direct relationship the “outside” with the “inside” of the houses.
