Proposal for a new bioclimatic community center in Thessaloniki

The idea of this proposal is to design a new municipal community center consisting of two curved buildings that appear to be swirling and joining within a new park with urban open spaces and communal uses.
A new original center and building complex, for the needs of the area, a building complex with utility and communal facility spaces.
The two equal building structures that appear to be formed by rounds of mistrals direct and protect the movements of the visitors inside and outside of the centerUrban approach
The new KEKO complex is implanted in simple and functional way onto th plot and the wider area and creates at its point an original urban fabric with a special engraving citymark.

The new KEKO with its two prominent buildings and the park aims to form a new center and urban meeting point for the area. From all sides of the plot (Alonnisos – Mykonos – Andros – Sidirokastrou) it offers convenient access for pedestrians and mobile visitors and easy access to its facilities ans uses from the neighboring streets and neighborhood.

The center consists of two prominent buildings, a Northwest and a Southeastern wing, with a central square overheaded by a bridge marking the main common entrance. The two volumes are curved and twisted together, leading everything with a balance and natural flow from the surrounding space to the middle of the complex.

The unique original design, natural lighting, light and shading in the hot and cold months, connections, urban space, uses and light are reflected in the orientation and shape of the building following bioclimatic parameters and supported by technical, flexible shading system and other technologies.
Exciting open spaces create with building blocks a set of uniqueness of the place with high quality and simplistic simplicity, softness, stability and functionality.
